Trails End

Miss Millie MacNeil
October 1995 - October 2007

We ran on beaches
Tide littered - from coast to coast

Learned to breach the waves
Swimming out to bobbing ducks

Discovered the trail
In a snowstorm thick as fog.

Explored the prairies
Immersed in a sea of grass

And when our trail branched
You alone found the way home.
(I wrote this poem for a tribute to my recently departed dog Miss MacNeil)
