Look what I found at the bottom of the pile. A really beautiful Corriedale/Rambouillet/Merino fleece, about 5.5 inches and soft as a cloud! This is the cut undersides, so clean and white. The top ends are very dusty dirty because of our dry, windy climate. It all comes out in the wash nicely.
Here I am at the skirting table up in the barn loft. These are the last two fleeces of 2008 that are left to skirt. I got behind on skirting this winter when I couldn't climb the stairs. So now I'm done, and just in time. The 2009 shearing will be any week now.
(Note the long tail. Registered Black Welsh must have their long tail, no docking allowed.
The underside has no hair, so the tails stay quite clean.)
